About the event

Course Overview Whether you are sitting at the potter's wheel for the very first time or looking to elevate your existing skills, this comprehensive class offers a supportive and structured environment to grow your practice. We will explore the complete lifecycle of a pot, focusing on the mechanics of the wheel, intentional form, and the foundational techniques needed to bring your ceramic ideas to life.

What You Will Learn

  • For Beginners: Step-by-step guidance on the fundamentals. You will learn clay preparation, wedging, centering on the wheel, pulling even walls, and creating foundational shapes like cylinders and bowls.

  • For Intermediates: Focused instruction on refining your technique. We will tackle throwing with larger amounts of clay, intentional shaping, advanced trimming techniques, and creating complex forms like mugs with pulled handles or lidded vessels.

  • Finishing & Firing: Proper trimming, surface decoration techniques, and an introduction to glaze application and chemistry to ensure your pieces survive the firing process and come out beautifully.

Who Should Attend? This class is designed for a mixed-level environment. Beginners will receive the dedicated, hands-on instruction needed to build confidence, while intermediate students will benefit from personalized feedback and technical troubleshooting to push their work to the next level.
