Intro to Crystalline Glazes, Wednesday Evenings (Studio 2) (5 weeks)

In this class we will cover some of the basics of crystalline glazes at cone 6 and work on making and testing a few pieces of our own. We will learn and create line blends and choose a glaze mixture for our final project pieces. 2/25 - 3/25 6pm-8:30pm $295

About the event
This class is suitable intermediate students with prior class experience that want to learn about testing glazes and how crystalline glazes work.
5- weeks
This class will be a mixture of lecture style sessions to learn relevant aspects of glaze theory, as well as hands-on time to make pieces and glaze tests. Students will have the opportunity to work on a "capstone" crystalline piece throughout the class, and will be expected to keep a notebook and help create test tiles for their glazes. The lab fee is included in the cost to cover the costs of materials for the class.
The base recipes for cone 6 glazes will be discussed and some of the base recipe will be provided for colorant line blends.
Students should bring the following items to class:
OSHA-approved P100 respirator or dust mask, stored in a labeled gallon-size zip-lock bag
Journal and pen, Sharpie markers
Immersion (hand) blender that fits inside a Solo cup
Scale accurate to 0.1 grams
-The class includes 12.5lbs. of clay, glaze, materials, and firing. Additional clay is available to purchase if needed.
-Wear clothes that can get dirty. Bring an apron and towel. All basic tools will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own as well!
-Participants must be at least 18 years old.
-Students will be given one 2-hour session of open studio access per week after the first two classes to work on their pieces, during hours the store is open. No glaze materials should be mixed outside of class in the studio.
Cancelation Policy
-Full Refund: up to 2 weeks before the start date of the class.
-Full Credit: Cancellations within 2 weeks of the class start date get a full credit towards a different date/time of the same class.
-50% Credit: Cancellation requests made within a week of the class date/time will receive 50% credit to be transferred to a different date/time of the same class.
-Full refunds if you find someone to take your registration.
-When you register for a class, you agree to these terms. In the event that Ceramica must cancel this event, a full refund will be issued for the remaining portion of the class.
