About the event
Agateware is pottery made from the process of layering different colored clay, and throwing it together to create gorgeous spirals and kaleidoscopic patterns. Eck McCanless will be teaching the process in this thorough weekend workshop, and participants will get to work with him to create agateware. The first day will be spent learning how to throw with different colored clays, and the second day will be all about carving. Students will get 25lbs of clay, split into 3 different colored clays, Standard 308 Brooklyn Red, Standard 266 Dark Brown, and Highwater Little Loafer's.
Lunch will be provided as part of the workshop's fees. Several pieces (3-6 medium sized pieces) will be fired, but additional Work made in the class can be bisque fired at an additional fee ($0.04 per cubic inch), as this workshop is intended to learn the process of agateware. Clay, tools, and lunch (both days) are provided, students can bring their favorite carving tool if they'd like.
